Question 1

Is BFSU the same as Beijing International Studies University?

Accepted Answer

No. This profile is Beijing Foreign Studies University, 北京外国语大学, with Ministry of Education institution code 4111010030. Other Beijing universities with similar English names are distinct institutions.

Question 2

Which teaching language should I choose?

Accepted Answer

Choose the exact language-specific catalogue entry. English, Chinese and bilingual routes can have different durations and requirements. Translation-related routes can require strong Chinese even when an English catalogue label appears; obtain the department’s current confirmation rather than assume an English-only course.

Question 3

Are study directions separate degrees?

Accepted Answer

Not automatically. Shared-code English and Business Administration options remain within their parent awards here. Distinct education major codes remain separate programmes. Research directions such as China Studies or Global Communication identify the focus within a master parent, not another qualification.

Question 4

Do English UG applicants need CSCA?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The 2026 English catalogue marks Mathematics for these routes. It does not by itself establish the exam-paper language. Follow current BFSU and CSCA instructions; do not assume an English score or a general school-leaving examination replaces the required report.

Question 5

What English scores apply?

Accepted Answer

IBS degree guides list UG IELTS 6.0/TOEFL iBT 79/TOEIC 750/Duolingo 110 or equivalent, and MIB IELTS 6.5/TOEFL iBT 88/TOEIC 800 or equivalent. English Studies lists UG IELTS 6.5 and master IELTS 7.0 if English is not the first language. Other schools set their own requirements; an exchange-course table is not a universal degree threshold.

Question 6

Who is eligible for undergraduate study?

Accepted Answer

Non-Chinese ordinary-passport holders need high-school completion or permitted pre-graduation evidence and must meet health, conduct and school academic conditions. Relevant Chinese-parent/former-Chinese cases face the published nationality and residence checks. Under 18 applicants need university approval and notarised guardian documents in China.

Question 7

What do master applicants prepare?

Accepted Answer

The central regular guide requires a recognised bachelor’s degree, transcript, CV, research proposal of at least 1,500 words in the teaching language, and two references from professors/associate professors or equivalent experts. School- or scholarship-specific additional documents can apply.

Question 8

What are the tuition fees?

Accepted Answer

Published 2026 English UG tuition is CNY 39,900/year at IBS and CNY 26,000/year for English. Supported master rates include CNY 30,000, CNY 40,000 or CNY 64,000/year depending on the exact route. English International Business has conflicting catalogue figures of 45,000 and 50,000; request its applicable quotation instead of selecting a rate.

Question 9

What other charges should I budget for?

Accepted Answer

The application fee is CNY 800 and non-refundable, paid in RMB through the university system. The 2026 degree guide lists insurance references of CNY 800/year or 400/half-year. Housing is priced separately per person per day, plus daily living, transport and personal costs.

Question 10

Are dormitories guaranteed?

Accepted Answer

No universal room guarantee is established. The guide requires eligible admitted students to book within the designated reservation window, while scholarship housing can follow separate allocation rules. Confirm room category, availability, dates and the daily charging basis; do not annualise a daily rate without an actual contract period.

Question 11

When should I apply?

Accepted Answer

The published regular 2026 master window was 15 October 2025–31 May 2026. The UG guide lists autumn and spring windows, but each programme’s catalogue limits which seasons it offers. Confirm the next applicable cohort and school deadline; a general spring window does not make every programme spring-eligible.

Question 12

Is there a 2027 scholarship notice?

Accepted Answer

A separate 2027/28 CSC high-level postgraduate notice was published 30 October 2026. It lists the university deadline 20 February 2027 and a later CSC system window. Confirm programme participation and current supporting rules directly; this notice is not a universal regular-degree calendar or a scholarship guarantee.

Question 13

How are applications and admission decisions handled?

Accepted Answer

Applicants use BFSU’s official system and official admission notification. Students Traffic can help compare public programme information. The international postgraduate prospectus says BFSU does not authorise intermediary admissions work; university application/submission steps remain within BFSU’s official process.
