What kind of university is Duke Kunshan?

DKU is a non-profit Sino-foreign cooperative university founded by Duke University and Wuhan University. China’s Ministry of Education granted final approval in September 2013. Its residential campus is in Kunshan, Jiangsu, and it offers English-medium undergraduate and graduate education.

Do undergraduates receive two degrees?

Students who successfully complete both universities’ requirements receive a Duke University degree and a DKU degree. The additional DKU graduation requirements applicable to Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students should not be assumed to apply identically to every international student.

When do students choose a major?

Undergraduates enter the common programme and declare a major in their second year. Internal tracks are curriculum pathways within a major, rather than separate degrees. Check your entry-year bulletin for available majors and graduation requirements.

Are SAT or English tests compulsory for undergraduate admission?

For the 2026–2027 application cycle, SAT/ACT and English proficiency tests are optional. DKU recommends English testing for non-native speakers or students outside an English-medium curriculum and gives expected scores if tests are submitted. Optional testing does not remove the review of academic preparation and English ability.

What are the 2027 undergraduate deadlines?

Early Decision is 2 November 2026 and Regular Decision is 4 January 2027, both 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Check the binding Early Decision terms and financial-aid instructions before choosing a round. Applications and documents should go through the official process.

Can every foreign-passport holder use the international route?

No. International status follows DKU’s citizenship guidance. Applicants with prior Chinese residence/citizenship or Chinese-parentage ties may need additional foreign-passport and residence evidence or a citizenship review. Ask International Enrollment Management about your particular circumstances before applying.

When must undergraduate financial aid be requested?

Apply for financial aid during the admissions application phase. DKU says admitted international students who did not request aid at that stage cannot apply for aid in later undergraduate years. Scholarship and aid decisions remain with the university; eligibility does not guarantee an award.

Is campus housing required?

Undergraduates must live in university accommodation for all four years. Graduate students are encouraged to apply, but rooms are not guaranteed. Check the actual room assignment, winter-break arrangements, disability accommodation process and study-away plans.

Which graduate programmes require Durham study?

MMS has three terms at Fuqua in Durham followed by two at DKU in Kunshan, over ten months. ECE has its first year at DKU and second year at Duke in Durham. Medical Physics has alternative DKU-China and DKU-Durham plans. Other programmes have their own selective or optional US study arrangements.

Does a graduate degree mean two university awards?

The verified graduate awards are Duke University degrees. A DKU location, alumni connection or partnership does not establish an automatic second DKU master award. Use the exact award and study-location arrangement in the programme offer.

What should international applicants budget for?

Ask for your cohort’s current quotation. Published estimates distinguish tuition, insurance, fees, room, board, books and travel, and some programmes price citizenship categories differently. Durham study adds US living and immigration requirements. Historical fee estimates are labelled separately from a current offer.

Does Medical Physics lead directly to clinical registration?

The 21-month MS includes clinical practica and research, with radiation therapy, imaging and nuclear-medicine tracks. It is not a medical-doctor degree. The programme states CAMPEP accreditation is not included; professional licensing or clinical-training eligibility must be checked for the country and role you intend to pursue.

How can Students Traffic help with DKU applications?

Students Traffic can compare the exact degree, approved campus phases, academic/test preparation and budget, and help organise documents and questions for the university. Submit applications and rely on decisions through DKU’s official admissions process.
