Campus life, Indian student community, food options, and day-to-day living at East China Normal University in Shanghai.
ECNU’s Putuo and Minhang campuses combine academic study with student organisations and campus services. International Students Union, Clubs Association and International Students Center offer ways to join the community. Programme teaching and research settings differ, so choose housing and activities around the campus in your admission offer.
Campus rooms are booked online after formal admission and completion of the applicable tuition/payment requirement. Opening dates are emailed in advance, and allocation is first-come, first-served; students without a room arrange off-campus housing. Putuo and Minhang have different residence options. The Software Engineering Institute separately advertises free/low-cost housing near Lingang; confirm eligibility, availability and commuting arrangements. France and home-country phases require their own plans.
The official Putuo dining page lists East, West and Liwa dining halls, with a Western restaurant and Muslim canteen on Liwa’s second floor. Minhang lists Qiulin, Xiayu and Qiushi halls. The campus card also works as a meal card in university dining halls. Confirm current dietary/allergy arrangements, opening times and the dining options near your assigned residence.
International student guidance covers dormitory rules, road safety, weather preparation and fraud awareness. The international office separates admissions from student-life/insurance support. Putuo Dorm No. 1 is listed near the campus clinic. Follow the university’s current insurance, visa/residence and arrival instructions, with separate arrangements for any France phase.
The Office of International Education handles admissions, while programme officers and student-life staff support degree questions, housing and insurance. Students Traffic can help compare exact award routes, CSCA/English documents, budget and campus phases, with applications and decisions handled through ECNU’s official systems.
