Is the 6-year MD programme direct-entry after high school?

Yes. WHO World Directory of Medical Schools records confirm the 6-year MD's prerequisite is completed secondary education, distinct from GMU's separate 4-year Graduate Entry MD, which requires a prior undergraduate degree.

What are the minimum academic requirements for Indian applicants?

Per GMU's published country-specific grade table: minimum 75% in Biology, 75% in Chemistry, and 50% in Physics or Mathematics, for CBSE/ICSE/State Board applicants.

What English-proficiency score is required?

A mandatory minimum of IELTS Academic 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (CBT 213 / iBT 79) applies specifically to the MD programme; this is a stricter threshold than GMU's general undergraduate admissions policy for other programmes.

What does the admissions process involve?

A computer-based entrance test in Biology, Chemistry and Physics-or-Mathematics (minimum 70% per subject), a written situational-judgment assessment, and a face-to-face interview, with a minimum overall weighted score of 70% required for admission.

What is the current tuition fee?

AED 155,000 per year (inclusive of 5% VAT) for the 2026/27 academic year, plus a non-refundable AED 2,100 evaluation fee and an AED 300 application fee. No installment plan is available for the MD programme.

Are scholarships available for the MD programme?

No. GMU's published merit-discount and full-scholarship categories both explicitly exclude the 6-year MD programme.

When does the academic year start and when is the application deadline?

Classes commence in late August or early September. For the 2026/27 cycle, the application process opened 5 December 2025 and closes 15 August 2026.

Is on-campus accommodation available?

Yes, gender-segregated on-campus campus logistics accommodation is available near campus, with a refundable AED 1,000 security deposit; the exact current annual fee is published only in a downloadable flyer that could not be independently confirmed, though GMU's own marketing cites a starting price of around AED 19,000 per year.

Can graduates practice medicine outside the UAE?

GMU states its MD is recognized by all UAE health regulatory authorities, with graduates eligible for the UAE licensing exam, and claims eligibility for exams including USMLE (USA), PLAB (UK) and India's FMG pathway. The India-specific claim was not independently verified against an NMC or National Board of Examinations source and should be confirmed directly before relying on it.
