Is the Jagiellonian University Medical College Medicine programme direct-entry or graduate-entry?

It is direct-entry: a single-cycle six-year programme open to secondary-school graduates. A separate four-year graduate-entry MD track for existing degree-holders existed until 2018-19 but has since been discontinued; only the six-year direct-entry track currently admits students.

How is admission decided?

Admission is based solely on a mandatory 100-question multiple-choice entrance exam (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Ethics, 180 minutes) -- there is no interview for this track.

What is the current tuition fee?

For students admitted in the 2026-27 academic year, tuition is EUR 16,000 per year for all six years, payable in full or in two instalments per year, regardless of nationality.

Do Indian students need NEET to apply?

The university's own admission process does not reference NEET. Under India's National Medical Commission rules, however, Indian citizens and OCI holders obtaining a primary medical qualification abroad on or after May 2018 must separately qualify NEET-UG, whose result is treated as their required NMC Eligibility Certificate.

Are scholarships available for international students?

No. The School of Medicine in English states directly that it does not offer scholarships to international students in its Medicine or Dentistry English programmes.

When does the academic year start?

The academic year runs 1 October to 30 September, with a single annual intake tied to that October start.

What language is the programme taught in?

Entirely in English, through the dedicated School of Medicine in English, which has run continuously since 1994. Students also take a required medical-Polish course for clinical communication.

Where do students live?

The university's own dormitory complex is in the Prokocim district near the University Hospital; 2026-27 monthly rates range from about 805 PLN for a shared double room to 1,680 PLN for a single room.

Is the degree recognized internationally?

The institution is listed as currently operational in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools, and as a Polish public university its Lekarz qualification falls under the EU's automatic professional-recognition regime across the EU and EEA. Recognition requirements outside the EU/EEA, including India, are separate processes governed by that country's own regulator.

What clinical hospitals are used?

Required rotations run through university-owned and -operated facilities: the University Hospital (opened 2019), Children's University Hospital, Orthopedic-Rehabilitation University Hospital, and the University Dental Clinic.
