Question 1

Is SVCE a private autonomous college?

Accepted Answer

Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering is a private college at Pennalur, Sriperumbudur. UGC lists its autonomous status for 2022-23 to 2031-32. Anna University lists it as an affiliated autonomous college with TNEA code 1219; autonomy and affiliation are distinct statuses, not programme accreditation guarantees.

Question 2

Where is the teaching campus?

Accepted Answer

The campus is at Pennalur Village on the Chennai–Bengaluru Highway, Sriperumbudur taluk 602117. It is outside central Chennai, so compare the daily route with college transport or campus logistics arrangements. The similarly named institutions in Tirupati and other cities are separate colleges.

Question 3

Which programmes are covered here?

Accepted Answer

These entries cover the 11 current regular undergraduate engineering branches through the verified TNEA academic-stream route. The college also lists eight postgraduate degrees. PG, research and lateral-entry applicants require separate programme-specific qualification and admission assessment.

Question 4

Are these programmes taught in English?

Accepted Answer

Yes. UG Academic Regulations 2026 specify English for all courses, examinations, seminar presentations and project/dissertation reports. The regular undergraduate degree takes four academic years across eight semesters; advanced-entry routes have different structures.

Question 5

What are the undergraduate minimum marks?

Accepted Answer

The academic-stream route requires HSC+1 and+2 or an accepted equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. General applicants need 45%average PCM; the listed Tamil Nadu reserved categories need 40%with valid category records. Applicants must also satisfy the applicable TNEA schooling, nativity or parent-employment conditions.

Question 6

How do I apply through the government quota?

Accepted Answer

Use the notified TNEA registration, verification, rank, choice-filling and allotment process, selecting college code 1219 and the intended branch. Following allotment, complete the college’s enrolment entry and bring the printout, required originals and full fee. The reporting deadline is the one in the allotment order.

Question 7

What is the verified intake timing?

Accepted Answer

The signed 2026-27 semester-I calendar schedules undergraduate induction from 2 to 15 September 2026 and classes from 16 September 2026. This is the published schedule for that cycle. It does not announce an open application window or promise the timing of a future intake.

Question 8

How much is first-year tuition?

Accepted Answer

The 2026-27 DOTE General-category tuition is INR 55,000 for Biotechnology, Civil, CSE, Chemical, ECE, EEE, IT and Mechanical. It is INR 50,000 for AI&DS, Mechanical and Automation, and Mechanical Engineering(Automobile). AI&DS has an express NBA-linked revision caveat; all charges may be revised by the Fee Fixation Committee.

Question 9

What costs are separate from tuition?

Accepted Answer

The first-year DOTE sheet lists development INR 5,000, other academic/service charges INR 83,200 and caution deposit INR 5,000. It adds transport INR 60,000 or campus logistics INR 135,000. The published General-category first-year totals are INR 203,200–208,200 with transport or INR 278,200–283,200 with campus logistics, depending on branch; later-year charges are separate.

Question 10

Does the First Graduate rate apply automatically?

Accepted Answer

No. The DOTE sheet separately labels reduced First Graduate tuition of INR 27,500 or INR 25,000 according to branch. The joining instructions require a Tahsildar first-graduate certificate and a joint parent/student declaration. Scheme eligibility must be approved; other charges remain separate.

Question 11

Are campus logistics and meals available?

Accepted Answer

The college provides separate men’s and women’s campus logistics and describes a dining hall serving vegetarian and non-vegetarian daily living. The 2026 prospectus lists accommodation capacity above 1,350. Confirm room availability, allocation, included meals and individual dietary needs before accepting accommodation.

Question 12

Can NRI or foreign applicants use these fees?

Accepted Answer

The tuition and conditions shown here are for the verified domestic DOTE government-quota route. SVCE advertises a separate NRI process with sponsorship and document requirements. Overseas qualifications, applicant categories, foreign/OCI/PIO provisions and tuition need a separate route-specific assessment.

Question 13

What should I check beyond the degree title?

Accepted Answer

Compare the exact branch curriculum, four-year attendance commitment, travel or campus logistics plan and complete fee budget. Optional Honours/Minor areas extend an undergraduate curriculum and are not separate first-entry degrees. Practical work, training and placement support do not guarantee employment.
