Is Ss. Cyril and Methodius University's Faculty of Medicine internationally recognized?

Yes. It is listed as operational in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools, and graduates from 1953 onward are listed as eligible to apply for ECFMG Certification, subject to ECFMG's standard requirements.

Is the General Medicine programme direct-entry after high school?

Yes. It is a direct-entry, single-cycle, six-year (12-semester, 360-ECTS) integrated Doctor of Medicine programme, based on a completed secondary-education diploma, not a prior university degree.

Is the programme actually taught in English, given Macedonian is the primary language of instruction?

Yes. The Faculty's own admissions call and curriculum documentation, plus the university Rectorate's foreign-student fee notice, all independently confirm a genuine parallel English-taught General Medicine track alongside the Macedonian-medium programme.

What is the annual tuition fee for international students?

EUR 5,000 per academic year for General Medicine, per the university's most recently published (2025-26) foreign-student enrollment notice; the 2026-27 figure had not yet been republished as of this research.

When is the application deadline for international students?

The most recently published cycle ran from 19 August to 29 September; this pattern has held across the prior three admission cycles, though exact 2026-27 dates should be confirmed directly with the university.

Do Indian students need to qualify NEET-UG for this programme?

Per India's National Medical Commission, Indian citizens and OCIs who intend to obtain a medical qualification from any foreign institution on or after May 2018 must mandatorily qualify NEET-UG, whose result serves as the required NMC Eligibility Certificate -- separate from the university's own admission criteria.

Where do students do their clinical training?

At the University Clinical Center Skopje, a network of more than 25 named university clinics covering internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, and nearly every other medical and surgical specialty.

Is there a dedicated contact for international students?

Yes, UKIM's Rectorate names a foreign-student coordinator who handles international-student admissions, visa and residence-permit matters.

How is the six-year programme structured?

Years 1-3 cover preclinical basic sciences, years 4-5 combine clinical-department coursework with early clinical training, and year 6 is dedicated full-time clinical-practice rotations across Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Public Health, Family Medicine, Gerontology and Palliative Medicine.

Is there a language-preparation option for students who don't speak Macedonian?

Yes -- UKIM's Faculty of Philology runs an optional one-year, 60-ECTS Macedonian and English preparatory language programme for enrolled foreign nationals.
