Accommodation overview
The campus has more than 300 hostel rooms across 10 blocks, a short distance from the academic building, with separate accommodation for men and women. Rooms are furnished twin-sharing with an attached bathroom; a single-occupancy option is generally available from the second year, subject to availability. Hostel space covers roughly 80% of students, so it is not guaranteed for everyone. A one-time, non-refundable Hostel Registration Fee of USD 2,000 applies, plus USD 100/month for a twin-sharing room or USD 200/month for a single room, paid in advance for the full year. Hostel residence is not compulsory; students may live off-campus from the second year with permission.
Food & daily living
Two contractor-run messes operate on campus, catering Indian and other cuisines on a cash-and-carry basis, at an approximate cost of USD 100-170 per month; mess charges are paid directly to the operator, not to the college.
Campus & lifestyle
SSR Medical College admits two cohorts a year (February/March and August/September), each around 75 students, on an 18-acre campus near Curepipe with more than 300 hostel rooms across 10 blocks. College transport runs between the campus and its teaching hospitals.
Safety & student support
No university-published campus-safety statistics were found. The hostel blocks are separated by gender, and the college provides its own transport between campus and teaching hospitals. Admissions and student queries are handled through the college's Mauritius registered office and a New Delhi liaison office; the college explicitly states it has no recruiting agents and warns applicants to pay fees only directly to its own bank account.
