Is the MBChB programme direct-entry after high school?

Yes. Applicants with qualifying A-Level science grades (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English at grade C or above) enter the 5-year MBChB directly. Applicants with O-level or equivalent results instead complete a 1-year Health Professions Foundation Programme first.

What qualification is awarded on graduation?

Graduates receive the MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) degree.

What entrance exam does the university require?

There is no standalone written entrance exam. Selection uses an online assessment test plus a personal interview assessing motivation, resilience and problem-solving.

What is the current tuition fee?

For international students: USD 8,200 in Year 1, USD 4,500 in Year 2, and USD 5,500 in each of Years 3-5, for a five-year total of roughly USD 29,200, per the university's official tuition page. The one-year foundation programme (for O-level entrants) costs an additional USD 8,000.

Are there additional fees besides tuition?

Yes -- an application fee, admission processing charge, visa processing charge and seat deposit are all referenced in the university's admissions materials, but exact amounts were not published; confirm these directly with admissions. Most fees are non-refundable.

When does the academic year start and when can I apply?

The university runs two intakes a year, in March and September. The September 2026 intake is confirmed open, but no specific application deadline date is published -- confirm the current cutoff directly with admissions.

Is a scholarship available for international Medicine students?

An Academic Excellence Scholarship offers merit-based tuition discounts (5-10%) for top-performing students, and a Kenneth Kaunda Scholarship offers a full tuition award for one MBChB student per year, though its framing suggests it may be focused on Zambian nationals. This information was last confirmed available in December 2023 and should be reverified for current terms.

Do Indian students need NEET to join this programme?

The university's own admissions criteria do not reference NEET. Separately, India's National Medical Commission requires Indian citizens and OCI holders who obtain a primary medical qualification abroad to have qualified NEET-UG, whose result serves as the mandatory Eligibility Certificate.
