How long is the UNAM MBChB?

The 2026 School of Medicine prospectus gives MBChB a six-year minimum duration and requires completion within eight years of full-time study. The qualification requires 1,092 curriculum credits.

Is UNAM MBChB a direct-entry medical degree?

Yes. The published route accepts qualifying senior-secondary results and does not require a previous degree. The prospectus also describes a separate degree-holder route, but that is not the only entry route.

What school subjects are required?

The 2026 prospectus requires the stated UNAM points threshold plus English, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics grades. It gives detailed NSSC Ordinary, Higher and Advanced Subsidiary Level thresholds.

Can a degree holder apply?

Yes, the 2026 prospectus describes a health-related bachelor's-degree route with a 60% final-two-years average and specified first-year Biology, Physics and Chemistry study. It also sets restrictions on failed or repeated courses.

What is the MBChB tuition?

UNAM's current 2026 fees prospectus publishes deposits, registration and living charges, but not a MBChB-specific total tuition figure. This record therefore uses an on-request fee state rather than inventing an annual or six-year price.

How do I apply to UNAM?

UNAM directs applicants to its online application process. Applicants meeting basic requirements are sent to the relevant School Admission Committee; only candidates who selected MBChB as their first choice are considered for its selection.

Are there tests or interviews?

The 2026 MBChB prospectus reserves the right to administer special written entry tests and interviews for shortlisted candidates before final admission.

What should international applicants prepare?

UNAM says international applicants need a school-leaving certificate or confirmation from the relevant examination authority, and a recent NQA evaluation certificate before admission can be considered.

What practical learning is included?

The curriculum uses work-based assessment and community-based education and service. Later years include clinical modules such as anaesthesiology, paediatrics, psychiatry and surgery, plus research and electives.

What does residence cost?

UNAM's 2026 published room fees vary by campus, room and nationality category. For example, Hifikepunye Pohamba Campus annual Namibian/SADC fees are N$6,140 to N$12,290, while the non-SADC column is double; availability is separate.
