Is YSMU's General Medicine programme direct-entry for students straight out of secondary school?

Yes. YSMU's own Faculty of General Medicine page describes the MD as a six-year, integrated one-step programme -- entry requires secondary or secondary-professional education plus passing two of three entrance tests (Physics, Chemistry, Biology); no prior bachelor's degree is required.

How long is the YSMU General Medicine (MD) programme?

Six years across 12 semesters at 30 ECTS credits each, leading to the qualification MD Physician. A separate, optional four-year postgraduate residency stage exists after the MD but is not part of the base programme.

What entrance exams does YSMU require?

Two of three subjects, chosen by the applicant: Physics, Chemistry and Biology, tested at secondary-school exam level. Sri Lankan applicants must pass all three, per Medical Council of Sri Lanka requirements stated on YSMU's own page.

Is NEET required for Indian applicants to YSMU?

Yes. Both YSMU's own admissions page and India's National Medical Commission confirm that Indian citizens and OCIs must qualify NEET-UG, with the result treated as the mandatory Eligibility Certificate, valid three years from the result declaration.

What language is the YSMU MD programme taught in?

YSMU states teaching is conducted in Armenian, Russian and English, with a dedicated English-medium track for international students. Applicants should confirm directly whether functional Armenian or Russian is needed for clinical-year patient interaction.

When can international students apply, and when does the academic year start?

For the 2026-2027 cycle, applications via the government's foreign-student portal run 22 June to 30 September 2026, with entrance exams in late August for early applicants; the academic year itself begins in September.

What is the tuition fee for international MD students at YSMU?

YSMU's own official pages currently disagree: its admissions page for foreign citizens states AMD 2,600,000 per year, while its Faculty of General Medicine page separately states AMD 1,300,000 per year. This unresolved discrepancy should be confirmed directly with YSMU's Department of International Cooperation before enrolling.

Where do YSMU medical students do clinical rotations?

At named university-affiliated hospital complexes -- Heratsi No. 1, Muratsan, and the Mikayelyan Institute of Surgery -- plus the university's own Simulation Center, using OSCE-format practical assessments introduced in the 2022-23 academic year.

Is accommodation available for international students?

Yes, in the University campus logistics, with rooms housing two or three students. YSMU has not published a specific campus logistics fee figure.
