University overview

Chang’an University is a public university in Xi’an with roots in 1951 and its present name following a 2000 merger. Its English international portfolio spans transport, civil and mechanical engineering, earth sciences, management and languages. Compare the exact academic school, CSCA subjects and funding route; published 2026 fees are available, while 2027 degree-intake dates remain unconfirmed.

The English catalogue places civil engineering in both the Highway School and the School of Civil Engineering, and transport programmes across several schools. Compare the school, research directions and supervisor rather than treating a shared subject name as an interchangeable route. The international admissions office is on Nan’er Huan Road in Xi’an; that postal address is not a teaching-campus allocation for every programme. Confirm the admitted cohort’s campus and any later moves before arranging housing or a commute.

Why students choose it

A dated English international portfolio across 14 undergraduate and 34 school-specific master’s offerings.
Distinct transport, infrastructure and earth-resource schools allow research interests to be matched more precisely.
Published degree-level tuition and housing figures support an initial budget, subject to intake-year confirmation.

Things to consider

The latest verified degree guides and tariffs are for 2026; 2027 degree dates and rates require confirmation.
Specific teaching-campus allocations are not stated in the programme catalogue.
Funding routes have separate conditions; scholarship admission and continued support are subject to review.

Best fit for

Applicants with a clear school or research-field match in transport, civil engineering or earth resources.
English-route undergraduates able to complete the exact CSCA subjects and language evidence.
Master applicants prepared with a bachelor’s degree, research plan and academic recommendations.

Student living

Campus environment

Accommodation

The 2026 undergraduate and master guides quote CNY 7,200 per academic year for a twin room, in addition to tuition. They require tuition and accommodation payment at registration and say cash is not accepted; fees already paid are non-refundable. These are published 2026 rates and should be checked again for a later offer. The President Scholarship’s housing benefit is specifically tied to on-campus accommodation on the North Campus; other-campus or off-campus accommodation is the student’s responsibility under that scheme. This funding condition does not establish the teaching campus for every programme or guarantee a room for every applicant. Confirm room allocation, campus, arrival dates and the current payment instructions before travel.

Food & daily living

The international-school introduction describes campus dining, but current degree guides do not verify halal certification, vegetarian meal plans or allergen controls. Ask the international office about the assigned campus and your exact dietary needs before accepting accommodation. Confirm whether self-catering is permitted and what kitchen facilities exist; do not assume a room permits cooking. Food is separate from tuition and housing.

Safety

The 2026 guides require a complete, signed and stamped medical examination valid for six months and a valid non-criminal record. Applicants under 18 face additional guardian and financial checks. These are admission requirements, not a campus safety rating. Use the formal offer and current university instructions for insurance, housing, registration and arrival reporting.

Student support

The International Education School publishes separate admissions, academic and student-affairs telephone routes. Submit applications and documents through is.chd.edu.cn; paper and emailed submissions are not processed. Monitor the portal and registered email for review results, and clarify school, funding-route and campus conditions before paying.

Frequently asked questions

Is Chang’an University the same as a university’s Chang’an campus?

No. This profile is for 长安大学, Chang’an University in Xi’an, whose MOE institution code is 4161010710. A Chang’an-named campus of another university is a different institution.

Which English degrees are available?

The dated 2026 catalogues list 14 undergraduate and 34 school-specific master’s offerings. Repeated master titles in different schools remain distinct routes; research directions within a programme are not separate awards.

Are 2027 degree applications open?

A 2027 degree-intake timetable has not been verified. The October 2026 spring-2027 notice concerns non-degree language or exchange programmes. The 2026 self-funded degree deadline was 15 June 2026 and has passed.

What are the English requirements?

The 2026 degree guides list TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.0 or Duolingo 100. Prior English-medium education with institutional evidence, or English native/official-language nationality under the guide’s passport rule, can qualify for a certificate exemption.

Do English undergraduates need CSCA?

Yes. The 2026–27 English table marks programme-specific Mathematics, Physics and sometimes Chemistry combinations. Materials Science and Engineering requires all three. The rows mark no Chinese subject for these English routes; the 2026 score deadline was 31 May.

How long do the degrees take?

The official international scholarship structure lists four years for undergraduate study, five for Architecture and three for a master’s degree. Confirm the admitted programme’s duration and any progression conditions in the offer; a research direction is not an extra award.

Who is eligible?

The 2026 guides specify non-Chinese ordinary-passport holders, high-school completion for undergraduate study or a bachelor’s degree for a master’s, with no failed subjects. Age limits are no more than 25 and 35 respectively, alongside nationality, health and conduct checks.

Does a master’s applicant need supervisor acceptance?

The central master guide calls it optional, with priority under equal conditions. Scholarship-specific instructions can differ, including CSC Type B. Check the chosen funding route before treating the letter as optional.

What are the tuition and application fees?

Published 2026 tuition is CNY 16,000/year for undergraduate study and CNY 21,000/year for a master’s. Other/self-funded application routes cost CNY 400; CSC costs CNY 600, and the master guide also places TFSU at CNY 600. Later-intake rates need confirmation.

How much is housing and which campus will I use?

The 2026 guides quote CNY 7,200/year for a twin room. Exact teaching-campus allocation is not in the programme catalogue. The President Scholarship’s North Campus housing condition is not a universal campus or room guarantee.

Are scholarships automatic?

No. The 2026 guides describe CSC, selected Xi’an schemes and the President Scholarship with different benefits and deadlines. Scholarships undergo annual review and cannot be freely combined with other Chinese government or university scholarships; funding may be reduced or cancelled.

What must under-18 applicants provide?

For the 2026 intake, applicants under 18 on 1 September needed guardian identity and financial documents. Foreign guardians also needed a non-student residence permit valid beyond 31 January 2027. A later intake needs its own date-specific instructions.

Where should I submit documents and pay?

Use is.chd.edu.cn for the online application, colour document scans and application fee. Paper and emailed document submissions are not processed. Tuition and housing are payable at registration without cash; published guides say paid fees are non-refundable.
