Chennai Mathematical Institute: Hostel & Accommodation

The 2026 brochure describes residential study and campus hostels for BS students and MSc Mathematics/Computer Science. Hostel accommodation is expressly unavailable for MSc Data Science. The listed hostel, mess and establishment charges total INR 31,310 per semester and may change. PhD accommodation follows separate arrangements, including first-year hostel availability in the brochure.

Students using the campus residential arrangement pay mess charges as part of the published hostel and living bill. Discuss vegetarian preferences, food allergies, medical diets or religious food requirements before accepting accommodation; no particular specialist diet or certification is guaranteed here.

Study centres on mathematics, computing and physics, with courses taught by active researchers and opportunities to attend seminars. The Siruseri campus combines academic space and residential facilities for the programmes that provide hostel accommodation. The undergraduate curriculum also includes humanities study and cultural activity.

CMI publishes an anti-ragging committee and squad with named institutional contacts. Its Grievance and Internal Complaints Committee investigates harassment and serves as the gender-sensitisation cell. Students should use the institute’s stated reporting channels for a complaint or urgent concern. The Students Grievances Redressal Committee covers admissions, academic issues, financial demands, scholarship non-payment and discrimination, with an ombudsperson identified by the institute. Programme faculty, academic administration and the complaints committee provide further institutional contact points.
