What are the current undergraduate degrees?

CMI offers four-year BS Honours awards in Mathematics, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Mathematics and Physics. They share the same entrance examination and initial foundation; students make the later subject and award choices after joining.

When do BS students choose their award focus?

After Semester I, students choose Computer Science or Physics as the second subject. After Semester IV, the focus determines the final award. Computer Science and Physics focus options require the matching earlier second-subject choice.

Can a student exit after three years?

The BS structure allows a BSc exit after three years on completing the required 112 credits. Students who selected Computer Science or Physics receive the corresponding Mathematics and Computer Science or Mathematics and Physics exit award. It is a progression option within BS, not a separate new admission route.

What are the MSc entry requirements?

MSc Mathematics requires an undergraduate degree and strong mathematics background. MSc Computer Science requires a strong computing background. MSc Data Science requires a background in mathematics, statistics or computer science. The institute uses its entrance examination and any required interview.

Is teaching in English?

Independent academic institution assessments identify CMI as English-medium. Northwestern’s current Mathematics admissions guidance names CMI in this context, and Michigan’s institutional list provides earlier corroboration. Any onward-study language certificate or exemption is assessed by the receiving institution.

Which intake dates are verified?

The 2026–27 calendar records first-year admission formalities on 31 July or 1 August, orientation on 1 or 2 August and instruction from 3 August 2026. January 2027 is continuing-semester reopening. The next entrance examination is announced for 15 May 2027; the next joining date remains separate.

What tuition should applicants budget for?

The 2026–27 brochure quotes INR 125000 per semester for BS, MSc Mathematics and MSc Computer Science, with two semesters per year. MSc Data Science tuition is INR 250000 per semester. Accommodation, meal arrangements and personal costs are additional; later-cycle rates require their own notice.

Is campus logistics accommodation available for every programme?

No. BS and MSc Mathematics/Computer Science are residential, while the 2026 brochure expressly states that MSc Data Science has no campus logistics accommodation. Research accommodation follows separate arrangements. Use the exact programme’s offer when planning housing.

What does the residential charge include?

The 2026 brochure lists INR 31310 per semester combined: INR 4000 campus logistics, INR 23310 meal arrangements and INR 4000 establishment charges. These are separate from tuition and can change. MSc Data Science students need their own off-campus accommodation budget.

Are scholarships guaranteed?

The 2026–27 brochure has programme-specific support. BS income-based waivers are 100% for family income up to INR 8 lakh and 50% up to INR 12 lakh; MSc waivers at those bands are 40% and 25%. Merit awards and limited stipends have separate conditions. Requests are processed after admission; an award is not guaranteed to every student.

Can overseas applicants rely on the regular fee quote?

The published regular entrance route and 2026–27 tuition are documented here. Overseas qualifications, nationality, equivalence, any visa arrangements and category-specific charges need the institute’s separate assessment; domestic conditions are not automatically an overseas offer.

How are the institute’s recognitions described?

CMI is listed by UGC as a deemed university under Section 3. NAAC’s own valid-accreditation register lists a cycle 2 B++ assessment declared 21 March 2023. These institutional designations do not guarantee employment or exempt a student from another country’s qualification assessment.
