Frequently asked questions

Where is this CIPET centre located?

This profile concerns CIPET IPT at Thiru Vi-Ka Industrial Estate, Guindy, Chennai. It does not combine programmes from CIPET’s other centres. The campus identifies nearby Ekkatuthangal Metro and Guindy suburban-rail connections.

Which engineering routes are detailed here?

The supported first-year academic routes are four-year B.Tech Plastics Technology and B.E. Manufacturing Engineering, through TNEA college code 1321. Other campus awards and lateral-entry modes have separate requirements.

What independent affiliation and current course evidence is available?

Anna University’s own affiliated-college roster lists the Chennai centre with examination code 3103 and TNEA code 1321. DTE’s 2026 directory records approved intake for both UG branches, and its current counselling matrix names PA Plastics Technology and MN Manufacturing Engineering. This is not a claim that a separate 2026–27 AICTE EoA was retrieved.

What academic qualification is required?

The academic route requires a pass in HSC +1 and +2 or an accepted equivalent, with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. TNEA uses a 45% PCM average for General and 40% for the stated eligible reserved categories. Minimum marks do not assure allotment.

Is there an age restriction?

The 2026–27 CIPET prospectus states an age limit of 21 for first-year undergraduate entry. It does not identify the calculation date, so an applicant near the limit needs the centre’s cycle-specific clarification.

Can applicants from outside Tamil Nadu use TNEA?

Only the listed nativity, Tamil Nadu schooling or parent-service exceptions apply; an Indian passport alone is not enough. The programme entries state the exact categories and conditional employer, schooling and nativity records.

Can OCI or PIO applicants apply through this route?

The verified TNEA exception covers Tamil Nadu-native OCI/PIO cardholders under Open Category and excludes those born abroad after 4 March 2021. This does not establish an unrestricted foreign or separate NRI quota.

What is the Sri Lankan Tamil refugee route?

Sri Lankan Tamil refugees who studied in Tamil Nadu may participate under Open Competition with Headquarters Tahsildar identification. Those outside camp registration additionally need their original passport, visa and police-station registration letter.

How should the tuition amounts be read?

The first-year 2026–27 prospectus quotes standard annual tuition of INR 55,000 for B.Tech Plastics and INR 50,000 for B.E. Manufacturing. It does not separately identify the OCI/PIO/refugee tariff. Development, university, admission, campus logistics and meal arrangements charges are additional; request a category-specific full-cost plan.

Is accommodation available?

The prospectus describes separate on-campus campus logistics for men and women, with water, power backup and round-the-clock security. Room allocation and campus logistics/meal arrangements charges require separate confirmation; academic tuition does not cover them.

Are these admissions currently open?

The verified rules concern the 2026 counselling cycle. They do not establish a currently vacant seat or a future application window; follow the next specifically announced counselling dates.

Are lateral entry and postgraduate study the same application?

No. The current portfolio also contains separately advertised lateral-entry, postgraduate and diploma routes. Their exact eligibility, applicant categories and approvals must be checked individually rather than copied from the two first-year engineering routes.
