Daily living support
The Welcome Center and Centre for International Students support orientation and organize culinary focus days in the Mensa, but the university does not promise a particular national cuisine or dietary arrangement. Students should check current Mensa menus and nearby grocery options after arrival, and disclose any allergies or religious dietary requirements directly to food providers rather than assuming availability.
Safety and support
Saarland University provides a Welcome Center inside the International Office with emergency information, arrival guidance and contact with local authorities. Students staying in Germany for more than three months must register their residence with the local Citizens’ Registration Office after arrival and need a landlord’s Wohnungsgeberbestätigung. Visa, residence and registration requirements can change, so applicants should use the current official German authority and university instructions. The Welcome Center helps international students prepare for their stay, find accommodation information and complete first steps after arrival. The Centre for International Students (ZiS) organizes excursions, campus and city tours, culinary focus days, cultural evenings and sporting events. The Admissions Office handles applications, higher-education entrance qualification checks, enrolment and fee management, while the Central Student Advisory Service provides programme guidance.
