Is Undergraduate Medicine at RCSI Bahrain direct-entry after high school?

Yes. Applicants apply straight from secondary education, and the Admissions Committee places successful applicants on either the 5-year Direct Entry route or the 6-year route with a Foundation Year, based on a holistic review of their qualifications.

What qualification is awarded on graduation?

Graduates receive the MB, BCh, BAO (Hons), a National University of Ireland degree at NFQ Level 8, alongside licentiates from the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, recognized and attested by Bahrain's Higher Education Council.

Does this degree carry the same EU recognition as RCSI's Dublin campus?

No. Bahrain is outside the EU, so this degree does not carry EU Directive 2005/36/EC automatic recognition. Recognition instead rests on Irish Medical Council programme accreditation plus a published list of individual country regulators (including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Oman, Iraq, Qatar, and the Medical Board of California).

What is the current tuition fee?

USD 49,400 per year for non-Bahraini students (USD 39,500 for Bahraini nationals), for the 2026/27 academic year. The rate a student enters the programme on stays fixed for their remaining years of study, and tuition includes provision of a personal computer device.

Are there additional fees besides tuition?

Yes -- a non-refundable USD 100 application fee, and a non-refundable USD 10,000 deposit payable on accepting a place, which is not credited toward tuition.

What entrance exam does the university require?

There is no single standalone entrance exam; admission is assessed through the applicant's academic record against a detailed, curriculum-specific grade matrix, an English-proficiency requirement, and a structured interview for shortlisted candidates. SAT scores are required only for the American High School Diploma route.

When does the academic year start and when can I apply?

The academic year starts in September. The cycle for September 2026 entry has closed, and RCSI Bahrain had not yet published the next application-cycle dates at the time of research -- confirm current dates directly with the Admissions Office (futurestudents@rcsi-mub.com).

Is a scholarship available for international Medicine students?

Yes -- the RCSI Bahrain Medicine Scholarships offer a one-third tuition-fee concession per year, for two places per cycle, open to applicants generally (not restricted to Bahraini nationals), subject to higher grade thresholds, an essay and an interview. The 2026/27 scholarship cycle has closed.

Do Indian students need NEET to join this programme?

The university's own admissions criteria do not reference NEET. Separately, India's National Medical Commission requires Indian citizens and OCI holders who obtain a primary medical qualification abroad to have qualified NEET-UG, whose result serves as the mandatory Eligibility Certificate.
