Is Zhejiang University a public university?

Zhejiang University is a public university based in Hangzhou and appears on the Ministry of Education’s directly administered universities list. Its origins trace to Qiushi Academy in 1897. Individual joint institutes and specialist campuses are academic units within the university.

Are all programmes taught in English?

No. Most undergraduate routes are Chinese-taught, with a defined international English catalogue. English master’s options span several fields, but some have bilingual courses, HSK requirements or supervisor-language conditions. Check the exact programme rather than the language of its webpage.

Which routes connect to AI and computing?

The current international master’s catalogue includes Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Cyberspace Security and Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering. The Haining ZJU-UIUC Institute lists a professional Artificial Intelligence master. Supervisor requirements and study locations differ between them.

Can international students apply for ZJUI engineering undergraduate degrees?

ZJUI describes English-taught dual undergraduate engineering degrees, but the current 2026 central international English UG catalogue does not list them. A 2025 institute admissions page does not establish a new-cycle international route. Confirm current availability with ZJUI before applying.

The location depends on the programme. ZIBS and joint institutes operate at Haining International Campus; the International School of Medicine is in Yiwu. Some ocean-related study is in Zhoushan and industrial-design engineering is listed in Ningbo. Other schools have their own teaching campuses.

What tests do English undergraduate applicants need?

A valid CSCA report is required, with English chosen as the examination language. GCM requires Mathematics; the listed biomedical routes require Mathematics and Chemistry. English thresholds and school-subject requirements are programme-specific, so one test rule does not cover every route.

Do master’s applicants need a supervisor?

Some programmes require a provisional-acceptance form from a ZJU supervisor; others recommend it or give applicants priority for having it. The Haining AI master requires the form. Follow the exact programme’s condition rather than assuming every master has the same rule.

Can I use the published 2026 application dates?

The reviewed 2026 dates have passed. General self-funded applications ended 28 February 2026, with specified programmes extending to 31 May 2026. Confirm a new-cycle announcement and any separate scholarship deadline before applying.

Are the displayed fees annual or total-course charges?

The catalogue uses both periods. Some programmes quote annual tuition, while others—including several business and law routes—quote a complete-programme total. Published 2026 amounts are shown as indicative planning references until the next cycle is confirmed; total-course fees are not converted into annual prices.

Are partner-university master’s routes open to everyone?

No. The listed architecture dual-degree route accepts only applicants recommended by Politecnico di Milano, and Optical Engineering accepts only KTH-recommended applicants. The part-time GMSCM business route requires an existing China Residence Permit. These restrictions materially affect eligibility.

Do English-taught medicine routes require Chinese?

The MBBS is English-taught, with Chinese and Medical Chinese study throughout the curriculum. Medical Chinese prepares students for communication with hospital staff, patients and families in Chinese during clerkships and internships. An English course label does not remove the clinical-language requirement.

Are the medical master’s programmes clinical residency qualifications?

The listed medicine routes are academic master’s programmes. First-year coursework is in Yiwu, followed by research with a supervisor. They are not represented here as clinical residency or medical-practice licences; the award and any professional recognition need separate assessment.

Are scholarships guaranteed?

Scholarships have separate eligibility, selection, renewal and deadline rules. Some English programmes do not accept Chinese Government Scholarship students. The 2026 ZJU-ISM academic master’s freshman award includes selected first-year support; do not assume the same award or coverage for a future intake.
